The Sabine Chapter of the Louisiana Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, was organized through the combined efforts of Mrs. William Milton Knott and Mrs. Lee Terry Williams. The organizational meeting was held at Mrs. Knott's home in Many, Louisiana, in the early afternoon of February 28, 1959, with Mrs. Knott as organizing regent.

There were sixteen organizing members: Miss Myra Addison, Miss Stella Addison, Mrs. Gerald Beasley, Miss Rosalind Carter, Mrs. Harvey Cleveland, Mrs. Cecil Davis, Mrs. John Gibson, Mrs. W. Marvin Henry, Mrs. Roy Hildebrand, Mrs. Stewart Hunt, Mrs. W.M. Knott, Miss Lillian Ponder, Mrs. Milton Pyeatte, Mrs. F. Cooper Ratliff, Mrs. L.T. Williams, and Mrs. Conteal Wooley.

Participating in the organizational activities were Mrs. Edward D. Schneider, Louisiana State Regent; Mrs. P.C. Fair, Honorary State Regent and past State Chaplain; Mrs. John B. Shackelford, State Organizing Secretary; Mrs. George T. Madison, National Vice Chairman DAR Schools; Miss Catherine Winters, and Mrs. Roy Fair.
